ARCHIMEDIX: Build the Beauty of Mathematics
One simple piece. A world of geometric discovery.
Commissioned by the National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath) in New York City, ARCHIMEDIX invites curious builders to explore shape, symmetry, and structure with 600 colorful Lux Blox square pieces.
The secret is in the connections. Link squares into chains, close them into polygon-shaped rings, then connect those units into intricate three-dimensional structures. Triangles, pentagons, hexagons, and more take shape—all from the same square piece.
Inspired by the 13 Archimedean solids, ARCHIMEDIX turns mathematical ideas into hands-on exploration. The unique hinged Lux Blox system lets builders investigate how connections create both movement and stability, then experiment with variations of their own.
The illustrated guide introduces the connections, walks through a 30-piece Flex-Cube, explains the polygon-building method, and provides a visual reference to all 13 solids. Original model photographs offer inspiration for further exploration.
