Lux Blox STEM and STEAM Build Anything Toy
Lux Blox is partnered with the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA), collaborating to create STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) lesson plans. IMSA, a specialized educational institution established by the State of Illinois, is designed for academically talented students in grades 10-12. It focuses on nurturing creative and ethical leaders in STEM fields. Unlike traditional K-12 schools, IMSA operates as an independent state agency with its own Board of Trustees and is funded through the Illinois higher education budget.
IMSA has a notable record of producing distinguished alumni, including the co-founders of YouTube, PayPal, Yelp, SparkNotes, OkCupid, and Hearsay Social. Recognized globally for its excellence, it has been ranked among the top 40 college preparatory institutions by The Wall Street Journal and featured in various prominent media outlets.
Additionally, IMSA serves as both a residential academy and a driving force for enhancing STEM education across Illinois. It supports other schools through educator development and youth outreach programs, offering professional development, comprehensive STEM curricula, student enrichment, entrepreneurship, and makerspace education.
IMSA PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR EDUCATORS:
IMSA offers professional development sessions on mathematics, science, technology, and pedagogy for pre-service and in-service educators and administrators. These professional development opportunities align with IMSA’s signature strategy of learning: Inquiry-Based, Problem-Centered, Competency-Driven, and Integrative. Professional learning opportunities include events held at IMSA, sessions presented at conferences, and workshops delivered in schools across the state and beyond. Educator workshops can be customized to meet any school’s specific needs.
